Hello everyone and welcome back to another weekly snaps post! I always love putting these together, they are my favorite to do as well as my favorite to read on other blogs. It was a fun week and I only had to work until Tuesday, so it gave me time to catch up on some things as well as surprise the husband with some birthday goodies. So you know the drill, make a coffee, put on some background music and get cozy with me as I look back at last week.
I worked on Monday and Tuesday and spent Wednesday doing some cleaning and running some errands, so I really just focused on getting through those days and taking care of things that needed it. On Thursday I woke up early (*cough* 5:00 am *cough*) to go to Starbucks to get two peppermint mochas for me and Joseph and to also get their free red cups! I actually enjoyed the experience, I thought it was fun to get up early for a frivolous purpose and to enjoy a little sweet treat afterwards. I also picked up one of their new Christmas cups. Apparently I have a coffee cup obsession.
Joseph did have to work on Thursday, so I took advantage and went out to do a little birthday shopping for him. I also did a little shopping for myself too, you know I love visiting and wandering through the stores. I first visited TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Ross and Bath & Body Works which are located close to each other.
But of course no shopping trip is complete without a latte.
I went to Ross first and walked around. They had a lot of great Christmas items out as well as some very cute and cozy sweaters. I always tell people that if you are not shopping at Ross then I don’t know what you are doing because they have the best prices. You won’t always find what you’re looking for and sometimes you’ll find things you never knew you wanted, but it’s always worth checking out.
TJ Maxx really had a good selection this week. It was hard not to buy up all the Christmas pajamas, coffee and home decor. I have bought a few holiday pieces here and there and I am sure I will get some more before December.
TJ Maxx is where I really found some good things. I started Christmas gift shopping for my three coworkers and picked up some Philosophy hand lotion as well as some cozy socks. I just need a few more pieces to make some goody bags for them, but it’s a start. I also grabbed a pair of opaque tights and these cute sandals on sale for $10.00. Does anyone else get out-of-season fashion and home items because they are so discounted?
There wasn’t too much that caught my eye at Home Goods (besides all of the Christmas goods), so I wasn’t in there for long. I was in Bath & Body Works for awhile though as they also had all of their holiday scents out. I did get two candles, I got their evergreen (which smells like a Christmas tree) and fireside (which smells like a fireplace burning).
The next stop was of course Target. Can we talk about these leaves for a minute? How gorgeous are they? I am going to miss fall once it’s over. Luckily we still have a few more weeks of colorful leaves, but I will be a little sad once they’re gone.
I did pick up some holiday items at Target including this delicious Peppermint Mocha coffee from Starbucks. This coffee is so tasty as it has a good peppermint taste to it, so all you really need to do is add (or make) a delicious mocha syrup to your coffee.
After Target I went over to Gigi’s cupcakes to get some sweet treats because you can’t have a birthday without cake! They had so many delicious looking flavors, but since it’s fall and Joseph loves pumpkin, I decided to get their white chocolate pumpkin cupcakes and they were worth every penny.
The last stop was Party City to get some balloons too. This year I wanted to get all the birthday accouterments for Joseph’s birthday. I tried to b careful to make sure that 1.) the balloons didn’t slip and fly away and 2.) that I could see out of my rearview mirror, luckily I wasn’t far from home. For Joseph’s birthday I went for a theme of things that we could do together, so I got Monopoly, Street Fighter for the Playstation and the old retro Sega Genesis…basically a lot of games that we could play together since we both love playing games.
I packaged the gifts in a gift bag with a big pretty bow and made a surprise setup for when he got home that night. I also stopped off at Total Wine and created a six pack of seasonal beers for him to enjoy. He really enjoyed the little surprise and loved the thoughtful gifts. Now, if I could just beat him at some of these games!
Come Friday and we were up early to start our road trip to Asheville. We packed up the car and I made us some coffees for the road and we had a fun road trip listening to music and chatting about random things as well as seeing all of the colorful trees.
That night we went to the Christmas at Biltmore which you can read about here. The Christmas display was beautiful and we had a great time visiting such a beautiful place.
And before we knew it the trip was over and it was time to go back to Raleigh. I always love visiting Asheville and the time just always goes by too quickly. Of course we also stopped off at Starbucks for coffee for the road. Even though it was only 32 degrees that morning I still got an iced latte. Predictable.
I can’t believe the week is over already. Monday is Veteran’s Day and there is no work, so luckily it’ll be a shorter week and one week closer to Thanksgiving. The trees are still getting more and more colorful with each passing day, now if I could just stop time a little bit so that I can enjoy it more.
