Well, the Weekly Snaps are a day late, but that’s okay! I had a pretty busy Sunday and was also feeling a little tired from a road trip that we took on Saturday, so I definitely needed a day to catch up and to rest.
Let’s go back to last weekend first. I stopped by the mall to grab some dry shampoo and moisturizer from Sephora. I also got a cute work top that was on sale at White House Black Market. It wasn’t too crowded, but then again I got in and out as quickly as I could. It’s been kind of warm here in Raleigh recently, so luckily I am not having to wear big thick coats.
I was in the office only one day this past week and it was so dead. There was only two other people working on my floor that Thursday. The roads were also nice and empty and the sunrise that morning was absolutely beautiful. Not a bad way to go back to work after being off for a week.
Since it was quiet on Thursday at the office I decided to just work from home on Friday. Work was still very slow, so I went ahead and packed up the Christmas décor and took the Christmas tree down. Joseph was a little worried about me taking that large tree out to the curb by myself, so I sent him a selfie to show him that I did it and was still in one piece!
I do love Christmas and when the tree is up and the mantle is decorated, but when the holidays are over I also appreciate the empty space for the room to breath. I love to light a fire and cozy up with a book when it’s cold outside. It certainly puts me in a hygge winter mood.
It is also time to go shopping for some new candles for the home since the holidays are over. My favorite candles to burn during the this time of year and through spring are these wild sage & aloe candles from bath and body works. It has this sort of clean and fresh scent that is perfect to start the new year and to transition into the spring.
Joseph and I went for an early morning run on Saturday. We had a little road trip planned for that afternoon, so we wanted to get in some movement before we were to take off in a car for an hour and a half. It was warmer on Saturday morning and the sunrise in the park made for a beautiful run.
After our run we went home, had some breakfast and coffee, took a shower and got ready for our little road trip. We went to Greenville, NC for the day where Joseph went to college. He had a lot of fun reminiscing about his college days. First we stopped off at the book exchange store and then went to get some lunch at the Mexican restaurant which had really good food including this shrimp burger.
After lunch we went in search of some coffee and found Blackbeard Coffee (The college’s mascot is a pirate, hence Blackbeard) was just around the corner. It was already 73 degrees outside, so it was the perfect time to grab an iced latte.
The college’s colors are also purple and gold, so there were a lot of these colors all throughout the town including this very purple wall.
After we got our coffee we walked around the college campus and I listened to Joseph’s old college stories. The campus itself was very cute and quaint. It wasn’t massive and all sprawled out like some colleges can be. I found it to be very charming actually.
After we visited the campus we went over to the sports complex and watched a basketball game. We had fun watching the game and they won too. We should definitely go to more sports events together as we always have so much fun.
I love having little weekend adventures and road trips and hope to plan some more for the upcoming year. I can’t believe that the first of January is in two days already! I am excited for not only what the new year will bring, but also the new decade!
