Hello again! I took a little time off recently from blogging and social media (see the previous blog post). I just needed a little break to rest and take some time for myself, so that’s what I did. When you are felling overwhelmed it is much better to just take a break than to quit altogether.
But I am back and excited to be blogging again, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s catch up a little.
A couple of Fridays ago the husband and I went to the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game at PNC Arena. We had a lot of fun getting out for the night and they won the game too! The Hurricanes actually got very far in the playoffs last year and they are looking very good this for year too.
The weather has been so nice and warm recently, so we also went out to Cameron Village for the day that following Saturday. We had just missed the rain too, so we got very lucky.
And of course the Girl Scouts found us! You can never say no to some girl scout cookies, so we bought a box of chocolate peanut butter cookies. They were very tasty too.
After our cookie buying excursion we went and got some sushi for lunch. I got the tempura shrimp roll and a sweet potato roll. The restaurant had a very cozy, cool vibe to it. It was a good place to hang out for a bit and enjoy the afternoon.
After sushi we did one of my favorite things, antique shopping! I love walking around antique stores and flea markets…you always find the most interesting things and pretty things.
So I am currently on the lookout for some new dark wash skinny jeans. I had two pairs of them, but they have unfortunately gotten holes in them. I have had them for years, so I am sure it was just time, but I hate that they both got holes at the same time. My navy sweater and black seater also got holes recently. Again, I had them both for years…I just wish this happened a little more spaced apart. So I have been going to Clothes Mentor here and there to see what they have. Clothes Mentor is a second hand store with good quality second hand clothing. I have bought things in there before with the tags still on them. I didn’t find any skinny jeans that I liked yet, but I do have fun trying on different things. I was definitely channeling my inner Parisian in this cute outfit.
The workweek went by pretty fast. I have been in my position now for four months and am still learning a lot of new things, but everyday gets a little better. Coffee definitely helps.
It’s been so warm that I have also been able to get out for walks during my lunch break. It’s also been rainy too, but as long as it’s warm and not raining hard I will still go out to get some fresh air. I do like to bring my lunch to work so as to save money. Eating out, especially where I work can get expensive.
I really like to walk around the shops and Target in North Hills. It’s just fun to get out to see what’s new like these new Valentine’s cups from Starbucks. Naturally I wanted to buy one of each, but I stopped myself!
Other than that I have been home just kind of hibernating with a coffee and a book or binge watching something on Netflix. It’s just that time of year where the days are shorter and it is (typically) cold outside, so it’s nice to stay home and just relax.
I do like to still go out though to do errands such as my weekly grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s. I always get a good haul of delicious healthy foods and I also like just getting out for a little bit so as to not get too much cabin fever.
Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so I will be off of work #bankerlife. I will be meeting up with a friend for a coffee as we always try to meet up on the banker holidays, it’s our little tradition so as to keep in touch with each other. I am happy to be back blogging and look forward to what this year has in store for me and the blog.
