The last couple of days in Jacksonville have been so fun and sunny and we really appreciated them more than ever as the world is little crazy out there right now. I hope everyone is safe and hunkered down as we try to ride out the craziness over the next few weeks.
When we get back to Raleigh we plan to stay in and stay safe as much as possible, so I hope you don’t mind me sharing our last couple of days in sunny Florida and I hope we can keep each other in good company and good spirits as we ride out this quarantine together.
On Saturday morning we woke up, got dressed and walked to Good Dough to get some donuts and coffee. We stayed in the San Marco area of Jacksonville which is very walkable and we loved being able to walk to so many great places for food. The donuts and coffee were definitely worth the walk.
After our donuts and coffee we went for a walk around the river. The weather was just so sunny and warm and walking around the water was the perfect way to start the morning after breakfast.
Later that afternoon Joseph went to Top Golf with his brother, so I decided to go into the shopping center of San Marco and visit the shops and walk around. It was such a cute little area and I enjoyed walking around in the sun, especially since it’s been so cold in Raleigh recently.
That evening we walked to dinner from our Airbnb in San Marco and I couldn’t help but fall in love with the sunset while we did.
Sunday was our last day in Jacksonville, so after we visited with family we decided to go to the beach one last time to soak up some sun and have lunch.
For lunch I had a good old fashioned fish and chips! You can’t come to the beach and not eat some fish and chips after all.
After we had lunch we picked up a coffee and did some more walking around. We visited the Casa Marina Hotel which is one of the first hotels in Jacksonville which opened in 1925. It was a beautiful hotel and restaurant and I may need to stay here one day.
We finished walking around the beach one last time before leaving. I hope this isn’t the last time I see the beach this year, but it may be and so I really wanted to soak it in as much as possible.
After we left the beach we visited with family for a few hours then made our way back to the Airbnb. After we rested up we went to dinner and then went for some ice cream at Mayday. I had the blueberry ice cream and enjoyed the cold sweetness since it was still in the mid-80’s outside. And how cute is this ice cream place?
We walked back to the Airbnb eating the ice cream and decided to keep on going down to the river since the sun was setting and let me just say that it was worth seeing. That peaceful sunset was the perfect ending to a perfect trip. Things are a little crazy out there right now and we have been keeping up with the news back home (Raleigh) as much as possible. Hopefully this virus will start to dissipate sooner rather than later, but to everyone out there…stay safe and stay calm as we ride out this craziness together!
