It’s another weekend to stay home and enjoy cozying up with a good book and a coffee. I know that the days seem to meld into one another right now given that we are all mostly home everyday, but for me it is a time that I do not have to log on to my work computer and so I do not need to set an alarm and I also do not need to watch the clock. I get to take my time and leisurely meander about as I please. This weekend is going to be mildly warm at a high of 71 degrees, but it looks like it is also going to rain and even have some storms too. It’s the perfect time to put on a slow cooker full of soup, light some candles and listen to a good playlist.
This week I put on some more folk sounding rainy day type of music to enhance the mood of that rainy day coziness that we all love. This is defiantly that time of year for spring showers and cozy light sweaters.
1.) Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens – Such a beautiful song and one of my favorites right now. My husband and I first heard this song during the Netflix show, Sex Education and immediately put it on our Spotify playlist. It’s has a lovely slow melody and Sufjan’s almost whispery voice creates the perfect rainy day mood.
2.) O by Coldplay – Coldplay has many hits to their credit, but this is one you probably never heard of as it was not released for radio, but should definitely be on your radar. A simple song with a beautiful piano melody and Chris Martin singing softly of love and loss. I have loved this song since 2014 when it came out on their Ghost Stories album which happens to be my favorite album from Coldplay. The whole album has a beautifully haunting sound to it and this song invokes that same feeling.
3.) Atlas Hands by Benjamin Francis Leftwich – I do love a good folk sounding song and this one makes all of my rainy day and fall sounds playlists. A great background song to just put on in the morning while you are enjoying a coffee and scrolling through your phone. This is just another song sang in a beautiful kind of whispery voice which seems to be the theme for this weekend’s playlist.
4.) Bloom by The Paper Kites – A song that’s a little more upbeat, but still in line with that folk sounding music that I like. This is just a pretty song with pretty lyrics that just take hold of you once you listen to what they are saying. It makes you long to wrap up in a blanket and to just let the day fade away while relaxing with a good book or coffee.
5.) Walk on By by Noosa – I couldn’t let this playlist go without at least one woman singer for the weekend. Another great song that is a little more upbeat and just makes you feel more energetic once you get to the chorus. This is such a great song to listen to anytime of the day. This one isn’t as folk sounding as the others, but it is still a great song to play during rainy days on the weekend.
