Is there anything more quintessentially spring than visiting a beautiful park? We were still on staycation on Monday, but unlike Friday through Sunday, the weather was not a sunny 85 degrees. Instead it was a cool 65 degrees and cloudy, basically perfect weather to put on a light cozy sweater, get a hot latte and walk around a beautiful park.
Around mid-morning on Monday we went to Benelux Coffee and picked up two hot lattes and then made our way over to Fred Fletcher Park near downtown Raleigh to go for a walk. We had our wedding here at this park three years ago exactly, so it was nice to go back for a visit. The park is just as beautiful as always with it’s green lush plants and colorful flowers. We didn’t even need to decorate the place when we got married, nature provided the most beautiful decorations itself.
We walked around the area with our coffees just chatting and enjoying nature and just really taking life slowly. It was such a beautiful day with the clouds overhead and the cool breeze blowing. Just a perfect way to end a staycation.
We also visited the Borden Building which is on the property that we also got to use when we got married. This building is historical and is just lovely and tucked away in the back of the park. We loved walking the trails and being enclosed by the trees and plants. We always try to come here at least once a year and it is always so beautiful when we do visit.
It was simply a great morning that led into a great day. Our staycation may be over, but our memories of the sweet simple pleasures we indulged in will remain until we do another.
