It is now officially summer and for me that means weekends spent at the pool. Although I love the beach more I do not live near enough to one (yet) for these items to be beach day essentials, but they will be hopefully this time next year! I love going to our pool in the summer. We live in a small community of townhomes, so the pool is usually empty which is nice when I get it all to myself. I love to go stretch out on a chair, put in my headphones and read a book while taking a swim every so often. I find it relaxing and a summery way to incorporate some me time into the weekend.
These are the items that I always pack up when going to the pool for the day.
1.) Kindle – I always have a book with me when I go to the pool (or beach). I like to read contemporary novels (beach reads) or something lifestyle related while relaxing by the pool. It’s a great way to pass the time while soaking up the sun.
2.) A Straw or Woven Bag – Everyone needs a good pool bag to carry all of their stuff. It should come as no surprise that I like to carry my things in a straw or woven bag as inspired by the French. It also has a very elegant beach vibe to it, a must have for summer.
3.) Good Sunscreen – You don’t want to get sunburned out there by the pool, so a good sunscreen is needed to keep the skin safe from harmful sunrays…especially if you plan on spending hours by the water as I usually do.
4.) A Good Pair of Sandals – You want something that is easy to slip on, yet stylish. Forget those plastic $1.00 flip flops at the Old Navy and invest something chic and neutral that will last several seasons and will go with all of your outfits.
5.) Quality Beach Towel – You want something big and soft to lay on or wrap up in after a swim, so go for a nice big beach towel to take with you. I especially like this black and white striped towel as it (again) feels very French inspired and will always go with whatever swimsuit you are wearing.
6.) Headphones – There is nothing like putting on a summertime playlist, closing your eyes and enjoying the sun on your skin. It’s a relaxing way to spend a day stretched out on a lounge chair passing the long days of summer. They are also good for when other people are around and you want to drown out the sound of their conversations.
7.) Water Bottle – Hydration is very important if you plan to spend a long time in the sun. I always fill my water bottle up with cold water and ice to sip on while I enjoy my time at the pool. You don’t want your skin getting too dried out and hydration starts from within.
I provided a link for each product in case you are interested in any of them for yourself (I do not make sommissions). Today is Friday and I am already looking forward to getting out to the pool this weekend. Happy Pool Days, everyone!
