It is the official start of summer as of June 20th and with it comes a fresh new look with lighter clothes and lighter accessories. This summer I am inspired by the gold, dainty jewelry that is most often worn in Paris. It looks refined and chic to wear a couple of pieces of small accessories with a light summer outfit. I enjoy a few statement pieces such as statement drop earrings or a statement necklace. And just like having a capsule wardrobe, I too also keep a capsule jewelry collection for each season. I will edit and make updates each season and these are the pieces that I plan to wear for this upcoming summer season.
I am loving gold earrings this season. I have brought in a few pieces that would work well with summer outfits. I have a couple of gold hoop earrings, one pair that is round and one pair that is more square. I also have four pairs of drop earrings that create a small dramatic effect and each pair has its own personality and texture with one pair providing a small pop of green for neutral outfits. They come in different shapes and lengths to provide a few different looks depending on the outfit that I wear.
The gold theme continues with the necklaces. Gold is such a warm color and just seems perfect to me to use during the warm months of summer. For the necklaces I have selected 3 long lengths and 3 short lengths for this season. The shorter ones are dainty and have small pendants on them. I have one that has a small, round charm that is textured, one with a small feather and the other one has an amber pendant to provide more visual interest for when I wear a neutral outfit. For the long necklaces, I have selected one with a large round coin pendant which I am loving, one with a lighter khaki color square pendant and one with nothing, but is split into two pieces.
The other pieces that I have selected to be wearing throughout the season are two bracelets and one statement ring, all in gold. One of the bracelets is a small gold bangle with dark amber detailing around the side. The other bracelet is looser with pretty blue stones for texture and color. This bracelet is also very feminine and looks antique which makes for a pretty effect. The statement ring is all gold and has two ends that wrap around the finger for a glamorous effect.
How I Wear The Jewelry:
Jewelry is just like an outfit where you should enjoy wearing the pieces as well as know what looks good paired together. And just like a well put-together outfit, less is more. I do not wear more than two pieces as a time and I only make one piece a statement. So if I wear any necklace, I will opt to wear a pair of small gold stud earrings instead of drop earring. If I wear drop earrings, I will wear the small gold bangle or nothing else at all. Only one piece should be a statement and the rest should be small and just provide depth to an outfit. I will also only wear colorful jewelry if my outfit is completely neutral.
I love great accessories as they really pull an outfit together and provides polish to a look. But elegance and sophistication is created by having one piece be the center of attention as too much is too distracting and cluttered looking. As with all good things in life, less is more and it is far better to have none than to have too much.
