It’s hard to believe that I have lived in Jacksonville for nearly two months and had not yet been to the beach. I decided to end that streak this past weekend! It was predicted to be overcast and with temperatures in the lower to mid 70’s, so it was a perfect day to go for breakfast and then take a walk on the beach.
I found a place that had a great menu as well as plenty of outdoor seating, so on Saturday morning the husband and I drove out to the beach to eat a place called The Ugly Cupcake Muffinry Cafe. This place may have had the name ugly in it, but it was anything but! It was really nothing short of charming as the location is a historical home right by the beach and surrounded by palm trees.
We sat out on the back porch under the cloudy skies and palm trees. It was also a breezy day, perfect fall beach weather for sure. We ordered breakfast and lattes and enjoyed the fresh, salty beach air. Joseph got the waffle board and I got eggs benedict over home style potatoes and turkey sausage. Everything was excellent, including the coffee.
After breakfast it was time to take our shoes off and walk on the beach. It was still kind of early in the morning, so the sun was still rising and it was mixed in with the clouds creating a beautiful sky.
It may be October, but the water was still quite warm to walk in. We had a lovely morning enjoying good food and leisurely walking on the beach until the afternoon. I would love to get out and explore other beaches and restaurants too. Next time I think I would like to go up to Atlantic Beach and see what they have to offer as this is where my husband was raised as a kid. Until then, I will have the memory of this simply wonderful experience to hold on to.
