I am a true to form antique lover. Every time I go antique shopping I always enjoy the experience of looking through so many beautiful and unique things for the home. I love walking around and taking my time to discover all of the little treasures that can be found in an antique store and I am so happy to have discovered that there are many antique stores here in Jacksonville.
Over the weekend we stopped in to visit The Antique Fox which is less than a mile from our home. From the moment I walked in I was in love with all of the charm of this store.
Right aways I started looking through all of the pieces and searching for something that may be good in our new little home.
It’s funny how the things you grew up with are now considered antiques, but I truly do think that there is something a little chic about a rotary phone.
I especially love looking through antique knobs and jewelry. It looks so elegant when you add some antique knobs to a newer piece of furniture creating a an eclectic look of the old and new.
Another thing that I am always looking at in antique stores is the colorful glassware. I love colorful glass and keep a few beloved pieces in my home, but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about buying more.
And of course there is the fun of the treasure hunt! Just looking through all of the various pieces to see what you will find.
And then there are the antique tea cups! One of my favorite things to look at while antique shopping. I could easily collect way more than I need because I love them so much. I saw this one at the Antique Fox and still may go back to get it.
They also had some fresh lavender that I had my eye on too. I will be going back later on in the week since I have off of work and will have more time to look through more of what they have.
In the end we purchased three things. We got a picture, a tray and some knobs.
I used the knobs on our television cabinet to give it an elegant update of mixing that new and old together.
I used the tray to create a side table vignette.
The picture is an original by Marcel Julien Baron who did modern sketches of Paris from the 1880’s – 1920’s. This is a signed original in its original frame. We loved this picture and hung it up by our dining table.
I can’t wait to discover some more antique shops here in Jacksonville. Raleigh only had one or two (which I enjoyed visiting), but there seems to be many more here in my new hometown to visit and I can’t wait to share more with you.
So many beautiful things! I would be in serious trouble. Love what you picked out!
