There is no denying that Christmas was a lot different this year, but that doesn’t mean that we didn’t have a good holiday season of fun, relaxing and all things delicious and sparkly. I worked for a few hours on Thursday (Christmas Eve), but I found a way to treat myself by walking over to the Starbucks and getting a festive latte to enjoy.
Luckily the bank closed 3 hours early on Christmas Eve and the weather was a perfect 75 degrees outside. We went for a walk around the neighborhood and enjoyed the Christmas decorations and the storm moving in with its warm wind and cloudy skies.
One festive activity that we got to do was visit Deck The Chairs at Jacksonville Beach. It’s a large light display and local businesses come out to decorate the lifeguard chairs. We got a coffee and walked around enjoying all of the Christmas lights.
We also visited our favorite little spot after dark here in Jacksonville. This is a tiny little park in the shopping center by our house and it is just as beautiful as I imagined it would be for Christmas. Between the tree, fountain and all of the lights…it was truly magical lit up at night.
Christmas day started out with a batch of cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Christmas morning will always have something sugary sweet for breakfast, it just seems like a good thing to do.
We spent the rest of the morning with a coffee from Starbucks and watching Christmas movies. Just some quiet time to relax and enjoy the stillness of the day.
After breakfast we opened gifts and stocking to each other. Everything was almost too pretty to disturb, but we had fun exchanging and unwrapping all those gifts.
After Christmas dinner we did some more relaxing and prepared a french pressed coffee to enjoy around the Christmas tree. I have to admit that I enjoyed the quiet time and relaxing this year. This weekend we’ll be taking all of the Christmas decorations down and storing them away for the year. I think our first Christmas here in Florida was a success and I look forward to making many more memories here in the Sunshine state. I hope you had a peaceful and simple Christmas too spent at home and keeping safe.
