Here we are in 2021 already. So far it’s been a few good days to start the new year. I had a long three-day weekend to relax and enjoy time with Joseph as we brought in New Year’s Eve by staying home in our pajamas watching movies and ordering delivery of Chinese food. Pandemic or not, it was a great way to start the new year. New Year’s day was nothing short of a beautiful day with sunny skies and a warm 75-80 degrees outside. We decided to enjoy the day by visiting Neptune Beach.
We first stopped in at Southern Grounds to pick up some coffees and chocolate croissants for a walk on the beach. We love Southern Grounds coffee shop as they have a few locations throughout Jacksonville including one that is only a 2 minute walk from our house.
After we got the coffee and croissants we made our way to the beach to take a long walk. We enjoyed eating and sipping on our coffee while walking on the beach. We were out there walking for a good hour or two making plans for the new year, reflecting on 2020 and just enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
Days like this in the middle of winter makes me more than happy that we decided to move to Florida. There are a few days that get a little cold here in Jacksonville, but not many. And for the days that are especially warm and sunny, those are the days that I enjoy the most. I can be pretty prone to getting the “winter blues” with the cold weather and less daylight, but I have not had that issue at all while here in Florida.
The new year is already looking promising with the rollout of the new vaccine and hopefully things getting a little more normal. I am looking forward to doing some more traveling this year including (if covid gets under control), Boston, Paris, Helsinki and a few trips around Florida. We’ll see what the future holds!
Happy New Year, Kate! I hope you DO get to travel more this year. I’m in desperate need of that too but with the way things are going in Canada with the vaccination roll-out, I don’t think I’ll be travelling at all. Our roll-out’s been incredibly slow and only a few thousand Canadians have been vaccinated so far.
Hello Vanessa and Happy New Year! I hear you about the vaccine. While it is moving along here in the US, it is still far slower than it should be. Here’s hoping that they will move it faster this year.
